1949 Press Photo Mrs. Rainbow Snake laid herself a passel of nice white eggs

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Mrs. Rainbow Snake laid herself a passel of nice white eggs, top, and 15 of them hatched, below. Rainbow belongs to Jacob Brenner, 2019 Peniston. There's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, says the old superstition, and there's a pot of little baby snakes at the end of a rainbow's incubation period. To clear all this up, we had a color picture in our July 3 issue of a rainbow snake, along with color shots of other varieties. Recently we got word that a rainbow snake in the collection of Jacob Brenner, 2019 Peniston, had hatched 15 little rainbows, a rather unusual thing for a rainbow in captivity. As this one in non-poisonous, we had no qualms about asking Wilfred d'Aquin to venture once again into a herpetological gathering. Here is Mama Rainbow with eggs and with young snakes.

Photo is dated 1949.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
