Representative Margaret Chase Smith (R. ME), who is also Senator-elect from Maine, packs up for a trip from one side of the Capitol to the other. The Maine Congresswoman is the first Republican Woman Senator ever to be elected and the first woman Senator to be elected without a previous appointment.
