1965 Press Photo Seabrook Bridge construction ceremony with Armand Willoz

The first concrete piling of the new Seabrook Bridge at the Industrial Canal and the lakefront was sunk Friday with Orleans Levee Board president Milton E. Dupuy at the controls of the piledriver. City Councilman Clarence O. Dupuy, Jr. was master of ceremonies for the event which marks the beginning of construction of the $4.2 million project. Dupuy represented Governor John J. McKeithen and Councilman Joseph DiRosa represented Mayor Victor H. Schiro. Armand L. Willoz, coordinating engineer of the Orleans Parish Levee Board, speaks at ceremonies Friday marking the start of construction of the new $4.2 million Seabrook Bridge. The bridge will be 46.5 feet high with a draw bridge for large water traffic.
