Salvation Army "Tree of Lights" in New Orleans. Lighting up part of the most famous thoroughfare in the world Thursday night was the Salvation Army's annual "Tree of Lights," situated for the sixth year at Canal st. and Elk pl. Lighting of the tree signifies the opening of the Army's annual Christmas appeal.
