1988 Press Photo Debbie Pearson, Audubon Park Zoo, Education Department with Owl

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Debbie Pearson of the Audubon park Zoo's education department explains a Louisiana owl during a visit to the Nora Navra Library on St. Bernard Avenue. "I am here to show animals," she said, "but also to encourage children to read more books. They can learn more about the animals by reading about them." Pearson also brought along a snake and an alligator, cold-blooded animals that had to ride in a 72 quart Igloo cooler with a hot-water bag between them. None of the children seemed afraid.

Photo is dated 1988.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
