1978 Press Photo New Orleans Mounted Patrolmen Chat with Kids Out of School

The New Orleans Police Department's new mounted patrol, operating on St. Charles Avenue between Lee Circle and Washington Avenue, stops for a chat with two youngsters of school age who were not in school Wednesday afternoon. The mounted officers are Roy Gibliant (left) and Sonny Mounicou. The patrol was begun in an attempt to reduce crime against pedestrians, transit riders and businesses in the area.
