Description
These semi-submersible, self-propelled drilling units are called Pacesetter 1 and 2. Designed by Friede and Goldman, Incorporated of New Orleans, they are to be placed in operation next year. Construction is underway on the second of a set of two self-propelled submersible drilling rigs, the fastest traveling of their kind. Called Pacesetter I and Pacesetter II, the offshore rigs are under construction at Bethlehem shipyards in Beaumont, Texas and Baltimore, Maryland. Delivery for Pacesetter I is scheduled for spring of 1973, with the sister drilling unit to follow in the fall of the same year. The Western Company of North America will own the rigs.
