1967 Press Photo Patti Kalnit wears printed suit at the city's playground

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
City Park is Patti Kalnit's capering spot. She also models in clothing stores around the city. Paulette Michel is a tall, slim teen-ager with long hair and startling almond-shaped eyes. She's soft-spoken and creates an aura of femininity about her. Cathy Usdin is a petite brunette with an hourglass figure and a ruddy, full-of-life complexion. Her sparkling hazel eyes lend her a healthy, all-American air. Though they are almost exact opposites, both Cathy and Paulette have one thing in common: they are apprentices to the same profession, the art of being attractive. They are "young models." The hundreds of teen-age girls working as part-time models for department stores are, in a sense, among the essential pins holding together the entire structure of fashion. High fashion models in New York magazines are vague, faraway people.

Photo is dated 1967.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
