Dr. Mason W. Gross, President of Rutgers, The State University, Written for Newspaper Enterprise Association - Dr. Gross, who teaches philosophy along with his administrative duties, is remembered by television fans for his "expert's" role on the quiz show "Two for the Money" during the 1950s. Most Americans assume, automatically, that the nation's college and university libraries are in fine shape and are fully adequate to meet any demands made on them. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. Personally, I believe in all libraries, public, private, industrialization, school and, of course, college and university libraries. Upon their quality, in a very real sense, depends the quality of our civilization.
