Miss Carolyn Ann Graves christens new derrick barge at Avondale Marine Ways. - A 300-foot derrick barge with a 200-foot boom was christened Saturday at Avondale Marine Ways, Inc. The craft, described as the largest of its kind in the world, will be used in assembling oil rig platforms off short in the Gulf Mexico as far as 50 miles out from the shoreline.
