Warren J. Crane, left, superintendent of the American Sugar Refining Company's Chalmette plant, was feted yesterday by officials and employees for his 50 years of service. James Carey, right, veteran employee, presents him with a grandfather clock on behalf of company employees. The wheels of one of the world's largest sugar refineries were stopped yesterday at noon to permit employees and officials to honor a man who had helped turn them for half a century.
