1969 Press Photo View of plot of land given to the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Creating quite an eyesore along Gen. Meyer Ave. is this plot of land that, once part of the old Algiers Naval Station, was given to the Archdiocese of New Orleans some three years ago. This scene indicates just how tall the grass and weeds are compared to a man of average size. The unkept grounds contrast sharply to adjacent government land where the grass is cut periodically.

Photo is dated 1969.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
