Description
Having a field day on his 60th anniversary as a barber, N. Roy Bowman, 80, moves his chair outdoors in Albany, Wisconsin. to show how much ground his razor has covered. Adding to his total by shaving 72-year-old William Brewer, a grandson of one of the barber's first patrons, Bowman reckons he's de-whiskered three acres of faces in 178,228 shaves. That is equal to the area between the plowed furrows on either side of the chair. Since shaving used to be the main business of barbers, Bowman has racked up only a mere 174,904 haircuts, which he figures add another six acres to the head landscaping total.

Photo is dated 1958.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
