Asheville, North Carolina - John J. McKeithen (top photo, shown in '65) said that former Alabama Governor George C. Wallace (bottom, undated photo) would be the favorite of at least eight deep south states if the presidential election were held now. McKeithen said he is not committed to Wallace or anyone in 1968, but that he could "conceivably support Wallace."
