Thomas E. Dewey long and successful political career was climaxed with his nomination as the Republican choice for the Presidency.Starting as Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern New York District Dewey became famous later as fighting racket busting D.A. defeated in 1938, he was elected to the Governorship of the New York State in 1940 by a wide margin. Here on the greatest day of his life. Gov. and Mrs. Thomas E. Dewey leave the State Mansion headed for Chicago to accept the nomination for President. Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches. Photo is dated 06-08-1944.
