Description
A Coopers Union audience of mothers tonight heard a program of "Mothers Health Organization" of the lower East Side. The Nutrition campaign was launched by Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and might serve as an example to the entire nation of that such community effort might do for the country. Dr. Mary Steichen, secretary of the Executive committee, presented to Mrs. Roosevelt six east side mothers representing four different nationalities, who had enlisted in the campaign. Each mother was questioned briefly on why she joined the organization and gave her personal reasons for doing so. Photo shows (left to right) Dr. Mary Steichen as she interviewed Mrs. Shirley Beck of 157 Suffolk Street.

Photo is dated 1941.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
