New Guinea- Supporters by large forces of the Pacific Fleet, American Troops landed at three points in Northern New Guinea the morning of April 22. One of the points raided was Aitape. Australian New Guinea, 150 miles Southeast of Hollandia. Fighter Planes using a Tadji Airstrip, four miles from Aitape joines American Jungle Troops in expanding their beachheads. Here three pilots part of the first group of Airmen to land on the Tadji Strip near Korako six miles from Aitape discuss Day's Operations. They are 1st Lt. Herbert Nunnery, Pilot Col Robert Morrisey, Capt.James R. Whinton
