1944 Press Photo Injured American Soldiers try plastic casts and splints

Clarence A. Renfro, tool designer at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp., here came up with this new idea of using plastics for splints and casts, James Lay, TM 1/C, wounded off New Guinea, wears a wrist splint and Lt. Comdr O. K. Irrgang, vet of three years in the Pacific, wears a neck brace fashioned from Plexiglas.
