1943 Press Photo Captain Lloyd Petticord receives Decoration for Moroccan Action

Vice Admiral Henry K. Hewitt, USN, decorates Army Captain Lloyd Petticord of Green Springs, Ohio for his distinguished action off North Africa when he commanded a scout boat and under heavy fire guided landing US Troops ashore, by means of a light signal. At right is Naval Ensign, K.L. Peterson of Kansas City, who received the Silver Star for Gallantry in the November 8-10 North African fighting when as Shore Fire Control officer, he enables a battalion to obtain its objectives by accurately directing the naval gunfire. The Decoration Ceremonies took place at Little Creek, Va. at the headquarters of the US Atlantic Fleet Amphibious Force, a combines Army Navy Outfit.
