Description
Armed with pads and pencils and warm, comfortable clothing, the ladies of the press toured Fort Meade on December 8 to learn, at first hand, how uncle Sam's soldiers are prepared for combat duty. Shown many phases of army life, the women were also permitted to fire the heavy guns and they had their lunch, army style, in outdoor bivouac. They interviewed military men ranging in rank from Private to Brigadier General and observed the thorough training army men must undergo before they serve in combat areas. The highlights of their visit are shown in the following series. Reporters interview a company commander who wears a sign to prevent any errors and full field equipment. He told them about the methods used to prepare the men for the rigors of war.
