Description
San Francisco: A letter from a 4-star Air Force General prompted reporters to delve deeper into what appeared to be a routine Skid Row death here 10/1. The letter, from General Curtis LeMay, Vice Chief of Staff of the USAF, was addressed to Lt. Alfred L. Beatie (Ret), & invited him to a reunion of their Flying Class, which graduated in 1929. In 1930, Beatie broke both legs in an air crash & was retired. In subsequent years he held various jobs, never married & finally died on Skid Row. Shown here is the AF identification card found on his body (California)

Photo is dated 1955.

Photo measures 9 x 7.25 inches.
