1940 Press Photo Carp Fish Die as Water Recedes Lake Meredith Rancher Ray Lees

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
A strong wind pushed Lake Meredith, near Sugar City, Colorado, about half a mile beyond the shore line. The fish came along, but they forgot to follow the lake back when the water receded. Millions of them, mostly carp, like those being examined by Rancher Ray Lees, were left high and dry.

Photo is dated 1940.

Photo measures 9 x 7 inches.
