Downs, Director of Libraries at the University of Illinois and President Elect of the American Library Association, formerly Librarian at Carolina, who brought greetings from libraries throughout the nation and Charles E. Rush, University Librarian who has planned and developed the addition project and who announced at the dedication that more than a million dollars worth of dedicatory gifts, including collections materials and money, have already been presented to the Library.
