Edward McMaster (picture left) was one of the first miners to make it to the surface receives treatment for a broken nose by Dr. D.R Davis (pictured right) After a massive subterranean earthquake left miners and rescuers racing against time and poison gas, at least nine were known dead, Seventy-six were brought to the surface and at the report Eighty-one were still trapped in the mine.
