1942 Press Photo Siblings Found Covered with Mildew

Photo shows little Evelyn, 3, and her tiny 1-year-old brother Ronald, are thriving on milk and other appropriate baby foods after having been discovered by an inspector of Welfare Department described that they were found the babies lying on bed that was covered with mildew. According to Mrs. Louise F. Walsh of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, their 24-year-old mother told police that her husband, a sailor aboard a US Destroyer, had written that he would never return to her.
