1958 Press Photo Machine's Controls

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
All controls for regulating the machine are located on one side. The lever just under the driving belts us the start/stop control for the tape head, which can be stopped without stopping the engine because of a centrifugal clutch. The small wheel with the spinner knob controls the tape lap width by adjusting the speed of the pipe through the tape head. The larger wheel beneath the pipe controls the speed of the driving wheels to accommodate larger or smaller pipe sizes. The wheel just under the top of the machine controls the tension of the idler wheel which presses the pipe into the driving wheels.

Photo is dated 1958.

Photo measures 11 x 8.5 inches.
