Description
Photo Credit-ACME & NEA 1000s of miles from supply bases, roads, landing fields dock facilities, and modern Army posts are appearing in this unchartered wilderness. Despite inadequate transportation, sub-zero temperatures, and scarcity of skilled labor and construction materials, the work progresses at top speed. Photo shows heavy trestle bridge built by engineers to improve the grade of a service road. Road construction was one of the biggest problems in preparing our Alaskan defenses.

Photo is dated 1941.

Photo measures 9.25 x 6.75 inches.
