Description
Old fire fighting equipment was exhibited in a cavalcade which paraded through the city Saturday to herald national fire prevention week beginning Sunday. A hand pumper, built about 1880 and owned by Keith Franz, 29, of 1622 North 52nd Street, attracted the attention of Donald Neldner, 7, of 1315 South 10th Street, who hoisted himself on the pump bar. Fireman James Haight, 24, of 4683 North 74th Street, a member of engine company 28, looked on. Franz, a collector of old fire apparatus, was dressed in an 1880 fireman's uniform.
