Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
New York: Replacing the fatiguing task of reaping the crops by hand, the mechanical reaper was probably the most significant invention introduced into farming between 1830 and 1860. The twine binder shown in this photo from the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, pictures the machine used in 1890, which rapidly replaced the wire binder after 1880.

Photo is dated 1962.

Photo measures 9 x 7 inches.
