Description
Leaving its launcher, the Navy's latest acoustic-homing torpedo, the MK 32, starts its relentless and unerring search for its target. Through its homing capabilities the torpedo is able to track down and sink any type submarine. The Mark 32 does not have to be fired from a torpedo tube. The navy announced Wednesday that two new light weight torpedoes -- designed to seek out their targets by following sounds -- had been delivered to the fleet. Known as the Mark 32 and the Mark 43, the torpedoes are the first of a new series developed by the navy in its stepped up concentration on antisubmarine warfare.
