Description
The top photo shows a seldom-seen topside picture of the U.S. Navy's No. One submarine killer, the Lockheed P2V Neptune. The view from above shows the deck gun turret with its double stinger and the navigator's well-window (in the fuselage just forward of the wing's leading edge) where the navigator takes star-sights. The bottom photo shows the Neptune from the angle enemy subs view with dread. The elongated tail and bubble under the fuselage house submarine tracking gear. It carries guns, bombs, and depth charges. A searchlight is mounted on the right tiptank -- which also holds fuel -- to boost 'round-the-clock patrol effectiveness. United States Navy, submarine warfare.

Photo is dated 1954.

Photo measures 5.75 x 9.25 inches.
