Description
From sunrise to past sunset, the 3,500 men of the 84th division, army reserves, range over the 61,000 acres of the Camp McCoy military reservation, referring their skills in the deadly but necessary military game. The five regiments arrived Sunday at Camp McCoy from some 30 Wisconsin communities for two weeks of intensive field training. Their task in case of mobilization would be to train raw recruits, but this summer they are the ones who are undergoing the training, often more than 1 hours a day of it. They take a few minutes from their duties to eat a quick lunch in the field, as did Private Phillip t. Fassbender (lower), of 2013 North 29th Street. He leaned his carbine against a tree at the light machine gun range, before returning to the firing line. (Wisconsin) (Wisconsin National Guard)
