Description
What started out as a construction project Wednesday ended up as a watery rescue when a crane lifted a back hoe from the rapidly rising Menomonee River. Vince L. Schneider Enterprises, 4215 N. 124th st., Brookfield, had moved the hoe into about 6 inches of water at N. 45th and W. State sts. to dig out the river bed before water pipe was laid. But the rain and thawing snow soon raised the river level. Schneider and an employee rode the hoe to dry ground. The hoe is owned by Super Excavators, 12745 W. Lisbon rd., Brookfield.
