Combat reporting came of age in the Civil War. At a camp site, a New York Herald reporter poses in front of the horse and wagon that carried him along with the troops. All Sentinel war correspondents were recruited from combat soldiers in the Wisconsin regiments. It was the only satisfactory means of following the ____ released at Washington, D.C.
