Description
Sue and J. Dennis Thornton and two of their llamas. How many candidates for judge sponsor a petting zoo - with their own llamas? J. Dennis Thornton, a candidate for Washington County Circuit Court, did that this weekend, Thornton and his wife, Sue, raise llamas and birds - including peacocks, pheasants, quail and turkey - at their Town of Barton farm. Thorton, who is running against three other candidates for judge in the Feb. 20 primary, acknowledged that the campaign event was unusual. But he said he thought it was important to be himself in the campaign. "Both y wife and I are avid animal fanciers," he said. "We raise animals," it simply gives us an opportunity to share something thats very personal about us." Thornton, without the llamas, and the three other candidates will be at a forum 8 pm Wednesday at the West Bend Library, 230 S. 6th Ave.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 2-6-1990.
