Description
A Milwaukee police officer testified at a John Doe investigation Friday that he had glanced at a 33-year-old South Milwaukee man in police custody but remembered only that the man had "a bare rear end." Gregory D. Krause, 32, a police officer for nine years, testified that he "wasn't paying any attention" to the six or seven officers around the suspect and did not know the names of any of them. His testimony came in the third day of the public John Doe investigation into an October 8 incident in which James Schoemperlen, an executive at an accounting firm, allegedly was beaten by police after he was taken into custody at the corner of 26th Street and Greenfield Avenue.

Photo measures 7.75 x 9 inches. Photo is dated 10-23-1981.
