Description
John F.X. Sheehan considers that when a person is dying in agonizing pain, the use of heroin to alleviate that pain would be "a gift of God." A professor of theology at Marquette University, Sheehan has written and testified before congressional subcommittees on the subject. He said the anguish of pain he has witnessed in hospitalized patients was too compelling for him to remain silent.

Photo measures 7.25 x 10.25 inches. Photo is dated 03-10-1982.
