1982 Press Photo Dances By Tokyo Geisha Perform Twice A Year In Japan

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Stylized dances by Tokyo geisha are performed twice a year during spring and fall in the geishas' own theater. Contrary to kabuki, in which all roles are taken by men, the dancers are all female. Traditional theater and modern music hall revues are on the itinerary of almost every tour of Japan. (Japan Air Lines Photo)
