1992 Press Photo David Yenter working on Pettit National Ice Center interior

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
As the interior of the Pettit National Ice Center takes shape, construction worker David Yenter is dwarfed by the massive interior walls. The center will be large enough for a 400-meter oval track for speed skating and two hockey and figure-skating rinks. Yenter, from Findorff Construction, uses water and sand to smooth pillars inside the center. The center north of State Fair Park will open on New Year's Eve.

Photo measures 11.25 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 07-31-1992.
