Description
Senator and poet Alba Rovallo hugs Socar Gestido, 65-year-old retired general, at Colorado party headquarters in Montevideo early today after returns from yesterday's national elections in Uruguay showed him to be the probable next president. Gestido was leading his Colorado party opponent, Jorge Batille, by about 40,000 votes in incomplete returns. If the voters approve a change from the present council form of government to a single president system, the leading candidate of the winning party becomes president. It would be Gestido.

Photo is dated 1966.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
