Washington, July 27--Have gavel, will travel--Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn of Texas takes a practice grip today on a new gavel that will see some travel this summer. He plans to bang out adjournment of Congress, maybe today, and then use it as permanent chairman of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. With him is Senator Henry Jackson and others, Washington Democrat, who brought the gavel as a gift from Grant B. Freer, Camano Island, Washington. Freer made it in his home hobby shop from native Yew wood. 1956
