Carolyn Tojeck and her husband, Paul (center), demonstrate a reading machine for the visually impaired that Paul developed with the help of James Sheahan (right), owner of J&S Electronics, 9055 N. 51st St. The Tojeks, working out of their Brookfield home, list the machine with about 400 other specialty items for the visually impaired in a new catalog called Carolyn's. The machine sells for about $1,800 in the catalog. Other items include bold-lettered watches, easy-to-read games and a $3,000 cane that signals obstructions ahead for a blind person. The catalog is available by calling (800) 648-2266. Many products like these also are available at the Badger Association of the Blind, 912 N. Hawley Road, which allows people to examine the items.
