Description
An American and British Commonwealth students' residence, planned to have over 1,000 rooms and cover some 17 acres on Mecklenburgh Square in the London borough of Bloomsbury, near the London University, is the main project to be financed by Britain's recently launched National Thanksgiving Fund. Designed to show the country's gratitude for the 75,000,000 food parcels received from overseas since the outbreak of World War II, the fund was started by the Lord Mayor of London to raise the equivalent of $5,600,000 through nation-wide contributions and the sale of special stamps.
