Three principals at a global peace conference pose today at the opening session at New York's Hilton Hotel. From left are Linus Pauling, Nobel Prize winning physicist, who spoke; Robert M. Hutchins, president of the sponsoring Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions, and Paul Tillich, professor of theology at the University of Chicago who also spoke. The gathering was inspired by the late Pope John XXII's encyclical, Peace on Earth.
