1975 Press Photo Heavy Duty Equipment recycling asphalt near Kenosha Wisconsin

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
The hot spot in the state was near Kenosha, where Monday's sweltering temperatures were surpassed as a Rube Goldberg type of contraption belched 1,200 degrees while it recycled Highway 192. An 83 foot long beater-scarifier with a screed is being tried by the State Division of Highways to recycle the asphalt roadway as an economy measure. Recycling the 2.5 miles of Highway 192, between Highways 50 and 142, will cost about $8,000 a mile, as opposed to an estimate of $30,000 for resurfacing. Heavy Duty Equipment.

Photo is dated 1975.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
