Description
Pauline Burbidge uses geometric patterns in the contemporary "Spirals" (above, left). In Terrie Hancock Mangat's "American Heritage Flea Market" (above), you'll find a colorful array of postcards copied on pieces of fabric along with embroidered images, appliqués and sewn-on items such as political buttons. Many of the techniques used by contemporary artists originated in the 1880s.

Photo measures 8 x 9.5 inches. Photo is dated 4-14-1989.
