Ed Gardner, 62, famous for his radio and television role as Archie, wise-cracking bartender of "Duffy's Tavern," died in Hollywood today. Gardner originated the "Duffy" show for radio when he was a producer. He stepped into the Archie role when he could not find another good mug type for the role. Ed Gardner, 62, known to millions as Archie, the bartender on radio and television's "Duffy's Tavern," died Saturday at a hospital.
