Description
Taking president Truman's advice, Senator McFarland (Dem., Ariz.) looked over a booklet called "The Federal Budget in Brief." The book explains how the government spends its income. Mr. Truman, in a speech dedicating the new general accounting building in Washington, D.C., said everybody who pays taxes ought to buy and read the book. McFarland didn't have to buy his copy, however. The booklet was distributed widely to Washington officials and reporters several months ago.

Photo is dated 1951.

Photo measures 6.5 x 6.75 inches.
