Defense - England - Navy - Aircraft Carriers Two of Britain's newest aircraft carriers, the Albion and the Centaur, were among warships which took part in ceremonies marking the departure of Admiral Mountbatten from his post as Allied commander in chief in the Mediterranean. Both have angled decks. Both use mirror landing aids, rather than batsmen, to guide planes.

Photo is dated 1954.
