Description
Integration problems were discussed by President Eisenhower and four southern governors in a lengthy meeting at the White House Tuesday. Governor Leroy Collins of Florida, Governor Luther Hodges of North Carolina, Governor Theodore McKeldin of Maryland, and Governor Frank Clement (right) of Tennessee posed with the president before the session. The group sought to have federal troops removed from Central high school at Little Rock, Arkansas. Governor Orval E. Faubus (lower) told newsmen in Little Rock that he was standing pat on his wording of the agreement to assume full responsibility for the maintenance of law and order and not obstruct the orders of the federal court.
